Personas

Mobirise

Based on the interviews & workshop I set up four personas. I referred to them throughout the entire product development process.

I involved professor and classmates during Ideation & Brainstorming session to identify these personas.
During that session, we captured the information like- behaviors, facts and demographics, needs & goals

Round 1 - Research - Guerilla Interviews

Who I spoke to:

At the discovery phase of my project, I conducted user interviews in order to get a better understanding of the problem.

I interviewed 3 people at Westfield Shopping Center during a busy day and 4 people at Oracle office during business hours. They typically commute by car or public transport.

Student, Security Guard, Designer, Product Manager and Communications Manager

What I asked:

I presented 4 scenarios during each interview along with open ended questions to validate the idea. Here are sample questions:

If there was an App that would make your commute go easier and/or faster, would you use it?

If the App was based on moods/flow, would you use it?

How many moods/flow you want?

Would you prefer a default or customized play list?

How would you want to customize your play list? E.g. by song, year, artist, play, audiobook etc..

What I learned:

Concerned about heavy traffic, weather conditions, bad roads
Limited knowledge on How they control their emotions
People do not relate easily with different moods
Looking for easy access to collect all audible media from different apps in one place
Community was not a high priority
Visualization, rather than words is the key when it comes to app design

I chose two tasks to validate:

User onboarding
-  Login with existing credentials from different media service providers

Create / Customize flow
- Select different media service providers playlist
- Combine playlist(s)
- Control playlist(s)

For them both, I created four scenarios to test with user

Imagine you are stuck in a traffic. You already installed 'EZ Flow' on your smartphone
- Signing the app with favorite media service provider
- Use the app to import playlist from your favorite media service provider
- Use the app to create a customize playlist
- Use the app to create new mood/flow

Round 1 - User Flow

I took the 4 scenarios and  created user flows that addressed each task

Round 2 - User Flow

Sketching, paper wireframes & protptype

I usually start the design process with low fidelity sketches. This is the way I iterate through many design options quickly.
